MIBL provides a wide range of financial services to institutional investors including depositary, custody, fund administration and other banking-related services.
MIBL now has an opening in its Custody & Banking Services Department for a: Custody Officer (CDI) (Ref: CO – 03/2024) Primary functions and tasks: Under the supervision of your hierarchical line, you are in charge of: Primary day to day responsibilities (including but not limited to): Custody Business Control & Quality Assurance: Assist and support the Custody and Banking Services staff in their daily tasks, if required; Own, maintain and develop the Oversight function over external entities; Produce and manage daily, weekly and monthly KPIs and KRIs of the Custody & Banking Services department; Support adequate reporting when needed; Maintain Group mailbox and follow-up of communication; Make sure adequate controls and processing requirements are met; Ensure effective understanding of specific process and strict adherence to relevant procedures; Maintain proper communication with external counterparts as well as other internal departments.
Sanctions screening: Sanctions screening check (both on holdings and transactions) Be able to provide the rationale why certain payment/transaction are not falling within the scope of a sanction Be able to make judgement on why certain securities (holding) do not fall within the scope of a targeted sanction Be able to support and train the team members in collaboration with Compliance department; Be able to prepare and adjust white lists to prevent excessive “hits” on the platforms; Ensure appropriate steps with internal (mainly Compliance, Operations and Customer Support) and external stakeholders (mainly counterparties).
Tax: Assist the team on all necessary functions related to Tax Administration (including but not limited to): Tax reclaims; Tax certification; Issuance of related Tax documentation; Tax reporting (Income reclassification, preparation of annual FATCA/CRS reporting and 1042 S); Tax account opening set up; Cash flow reports; Tax Newsflash review.
Specific knowledge & skills: Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a similar position is essential.
Experience in regulatory advisory, compliance; risk management, control environment or similar is an asset; General knowledge of Operations in custody and Fund industry; General knowledge of Sanctions screening processing; Ability to work autonomously; strong organizational skills & quality focused while being a team player; Good command of English language is required and any other language is considered as an advantage; Basic knowledge on the OFAC and EU sanctions; Good reporting skills.
